I met a couple from out of the area a couple of years ago. They described their home and said this is what they would like to buy in the Bay area. They figured their home could sell rather quickly for around $425,000.00. I figured they would need to pay around $1,200,000.00 for the replacement house in the Bay Area. As they began looking, the wife asked me a question that I could not answer. The question was, why do you get more house, for the money on the coast than on the peninsula? Her thoughts were that property should be more expensive by the ocean as it is in most areas of the country.

Well, with the whole Ask Lisa thing, I tried to come up with an answer. Some people think the weather is better on the other side of the hill. I do not. I like the cooler summers. I like the fresh air that the ocean breezes provide for us.  I love the different configurations of the fog coming over the hills and making spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Like most areas in the San Francisco area, there are pockets of sun. Everyone that lives here knows about the sunny areas and the foggy areas.

My favorite misconception is that it is far away from everything. A few years ago, we became friendly with a couple who had moved to Pacifica from the Twin Peaks area of San Francisco. When it came time to have her husband’s birthday party, the wife hosted the party at a friend’s house in San Francisco. Her theory was people from Pacifica know Twin Peaks is a twenty-minute ride. Her San Francisco friends thought that Pacifica was too far away and would not attend.
I personally cannot imagine living anywhere else. I am definitely a Pacifican by choice. Both of my parents were in the Air Force, so we lived around the United States and the world. I came to the Bay Area 30 years ago and found Pacifica 25 years ago and have lived here all of my adult life. I have to admit, it was nice for once to hear a question about why were prices so low.

If you are looking for a house on the Peninsula and would like to get more house for your money, give me a call and let me introduce you to Pacifica.
